10 week old Jake

(Don't mind the red light, i have to cover the flash so he will keep smiling.)

I haven't been very good at blogging, mostly because i think it's a hassle and it takes forever for pictures to upload but i really need to do better, mostly for journaling purposes. Here's a little update on Jake. 

- at his 2 month checkup he weighed in at 10 lbs. 13 oz. and was 23 inches long, he gained 2 lbs. and 2 inches in a month! 

-in the past week or so he's been cooing so much! it's adorable!  i woke up yesterday morning to find  him "talking" to himself just staring at the ceiling. so content.

-he has recently started smiling a ton at new faces. he is definitely a people person and loves having new people around. every time his grandpa gardner holds him he smiles! (he must think he's funny looking) we've actually been able to make him smile by making funny sounds with our lips. he thinks it's  pretty funny. 

- he laughs a lot in his sleep (only  in his sleep) it's usually when i'm rocking him and he's kind of in and out of sleep that he laughs pretty loud. i love it! it makes me laugh every time.

- he loves his bouncer with the little toys over it. he smiles at them and just yesterday started reaching for them! 

- he loves his car seat and sleeps really well in it. (that's where he is now, he's been asleep for 2 hours)

- he loves sleeping with his arm above his head

-he is always moving his hands around all over his face and head and sucking on his fist.

-he is great on long trips because he falls asleep and doesn't wake up until we get there. 

- he still has a ton of hair but he's been changing so much it's crazy

- he loves to suck on things, especially his pacifier, he just can't keep it in his mouth! we usually have to hold it in there for him or put the blanket next to it so it can't fall out.

- he doesn't sleep through the night but he usually only wakes up twice to eat. hopefully that will come soon.

I never thought i'd get so excited about such little things but it's so fun to see them grow and learn!

Jacob's Blessing Day

February 7th we had Jake's blessing which was a really fun day. Gary has 7 siblings (all but two were there) and they all have kids so there were quite a few people there. We also had two of my brothers there and my parents grandparents and also some aunts/uncles and cousins. It was a lot of fun to have so many people at our home (but also a little stressful). The blessing went really well and we had a great day! Jake looked so cute in his little tux that we borrowed from Gary's cousin. He did amazing the whole time too, no crying and he was asleep a lot of the time. Here are a few pictures of the day.

Christmas

For Christmas this year we decided to just stay home and enjoy Christmas time as a little family since Jake was only two weeks old and it was nice having Gary home from work. We didn't do anything to exciting except see lights at the temple and around St. George, made sugar cookies (which i ate too many of causing Jake to be awake at night, i definitely won't be doing that again) and went shopping. Gary and i decided Jake would be our present this year so we didn't really have any presents to open except from our parents and Jake's presents (he got more than we did). But it was a fun Christmas and next  year will be a lot of fun with a little one year old!

My First Bath

Jake had his first bath last week and as  you can tell he hated it! He screamed the whole time mostly because he hates being naked. To get me back for making him take a bath he decided to pee all down the front of me just as i was about to put him in the tub. :)

Newborn PIctures!

We got some pictures taken of Jake on Thursday, and he cried almost the whole time which is unusual but he hates being naked! he also hates laying on his stomach which was how most of the poses were. So we got some pictures but decided to take some more Saturday which i haven't gotten back yet but here are a few.

On the way home from the hospital

So this post is so late, but better late than never right? I'll share a little of the story with you since it's kind of long. Basically on Monday the 7th I had a feeling my water broke, it wasn't completely obvious so i wasn't sure. the Dr. told me to go to Labor and Delivery and get checked out and sure enough my water broke and i was told i would be having the baby in the next 24 hrs. (which they told me it could take that long and if i hadn't progressed i would be having a c-section which i was definitely not happy about. ) so Gary had to go home and get all my stuff since i wasn't planning on staying. About 3 p.m. they gave me a Cytotec to start my contractions etc. which it did! the first few hrs were bearable but after that i was in so much pain that i couldn't handle it. it didn't help that they wouldn't let me eat anything and i couldn't sleep (by this point it was 2 in the morning). i decided to go ahead and get the epidural and that definitely helped me relax. then at 8:45 they told me to start pushing and he was here by 9:14 a.m.! it was a really cool experience though the after effects aren't so fun. he came out with a full head of hair and is so adorable! he definitely looked like me when he was born but then started to look more like Gary and now we can't tell who he looks like! it has been a challenging but amazing week and a half. i'm already enjoying being a mom! he is such a sweet boy and  has been so much fun to watch him. 

Reasons I'm done being pregnant (well some of them)

39 weeks preggers  = no fun

- so sick of not being able to sleep! i have a body pillow which helps but i wake up in the morning with a stiff neck and i hate having to sleep on my side! i seriously can't wait to sleep on my stomach again!

- it's really annoying having people stare at you everywhere you go like you have a disease or something. seriously people, have you never seen a pregnant woman? luckily i don't have random people touching my belly or anything probably because i have a look on my face saying "don't mess with me"

-my ribs hurt! i wake up every morning feeling like my ribs are so bruised. this morning i felt my rib pop out of place, ( at least that's what it felt like, have you ever had that feeling?) the little guy has been up in my ribs for a while now and i'm sure ready for him to drop.

-i have to pee constantly! so annoying, i'm sure all of you that have kids know what i'm talking about. i swear i have to get up at least 4 times a night if i'm lucky. aaahh

- recently have been having a sharp pain whenever i walk around so i probably waddle a bit. 

-i'm sick of feeling so unattractive and huge all of the time! can't wait for that to end : )

- i hate maternity pants. they really suck. i really want to go shopping and buy normal clothes. 

- can we say mood swings? i have not been very cheery, especially around Gary so i'm sure he's pretty excited for this pregnancy to end. 

wow i'm such a complainer! well, let's just hope he comes soon. 6 more days! (hopefully no more).
